The purpose of our Parents' Association is to foster cooperation and community spirit among parents, administration, faculty, staff, trustees, and students.

Greetings from your Parents' Association President!

August 2016

Hello Baltimore Lab School Families,

On behalf of your Parents’ Association, welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Baltimore Lab School (BLS)! The purpose of the Parents’ Association (PA) is to provide support for the Faculty, Administration and Students at BLS through communication, activities and events. Please see the information in the Parents’ Association Welcome Packet (also available on the website) for more information about the PA and our goals.

The PA can’t wait to get started on a year filled with fun and exciting activities and events for the students, families, teachers and staff at BLS. We will see old favorites - such as the Chick-Fil-A lunch program, Spaghetti Dinner and Scholastic Book Fair – as well as some new things – like family game and movie nights and parent socials and other outings. Please take a moment to look at the BLS PA Calendar and review the Rewards Programs. These easy fundraisers provide us with necessary funds to provide our programs.

The first event of the year will be the Welcome Back Orientation on August 22nd from 12:30pm to 3pm. Please stop by the PA table and introduce yourself to us. You can drop off forms and learn more about the planned activities for the year. We will also be sponsoring a treat from Rita’s Italian Ice on the porch!

To make all of this year’s events and activities a big success, we need the help of our parent volunteers! There are many opportunities to help and we appreciate your time and effort spent making our organization successful. Please take the time to fill out the Volunteer Form in this Welcome Packet to indicate your areas of interest! We are also looking to expand our Board members and fill the roles of Vice-President and Secretary. If you would like to volunteer for one of these positions, but are short on time, consider splitting the position with someone!

All families are members of the BLS Parents’ Association and are encouraged to pay the annual dues. Please complete the Membership Form in this Welcome Packet and return all forms to school (ATTN: BLS Parents’ Association) by September 1, 2016. The PA mailbox is located in the copy room off the front lobby of the school. Also, we will be having office hours this year! They will be held in Mr. Buettner’s office and provide a chance for parents to interact with the PA and have greater access to our officers and volunteers. Please stay tuned for the announcement of days and times and stop by to visit!

Please contact us at ParentsAssociation@baltimorelabschool.org if you have any questions, suggestions or comments about the upcoming school year. We look forward to making this a great year for our families, children and staff!

Thank you,

Mindy Kramer
