Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy promotes independence, enhances development, and facilitates the maturation of basic “daily living” skills. We provide individual, small group, and integrated services for Baltimore Lab School students as well as outpatient evaluation and treatment for children in the community. Our occupational therapists are specifically trained to identify the developmental weaknesses linked to learning disabilities.

The following areas are addressed, relative to age-level:
  • Reading readiness
  • Sense of direction
  • Posture
  • The ability to control movement
  • Motor planning and coordinated movement
  • Sensory integration

Educational Workshops

Parents and teachers benefit from a variety of Occupational Therapy workshops offered by the Baltimore Lab School specialists; some sessions are held at the School, others are held in the community.

Topics may include:
  • Sensory-motor red flags
  • Sensory processing
  • Classroom accommodations and modifications
  • Handwriting challenges
