MS Classroom Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time Middle School Classroom Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

Professional responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy through arts-integrated teaching strategies, which include multisensory instruction, project-based learning, whole group learning, small group learning, think-pair-share, and every pupil response.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of students by using various ways to determine students’ learning styles and preferences. 
  • Plans student-centered lessons based on the 7E format and the principles of Universal Design for Learning.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resources by selecting materials that recruit multiple modalities through the delivery of instruction and assessment of learning. 
  • Demonstrates effective use of instructional technology to enhance process and product
  • Designs student assessments that are both formative and summative in nature.
  • Establishes a culture for learning by giving students choices of process and product each day. 
  • Organizes the physical space of the classroom in a way that allows students chances to move around and complete work in comfortable way that aligns to learning style and preferences. 
  • Communicates with students in dignified, respectful ways that model appropriate expected behaviors.  
  • Uses varied and engaging questioning and discussion techniques to fully support student learning and enhance instruction and assessment. 
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the needs of all students and their IEP/PEP goals and objectives.
  • Serves as an Educational Advisor for a small caseload of students. This includes quarterly data tracking, progress updates, and attending once or twice annual IEP / PEP meetings.
  • Is an active participant in the school’s collaborative and professional learning community including working with members of the arts team to incorporate Sally Smith’s Academic Club Methodology.
  • Seeks out opportunities for professional growth and ways to contribute to the total school. 
Requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teacher’s certificate in the area of General Special Education 1-8, in another area with eligibility to add a General Special Education endorsement, in the process of having an application for certification reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education, or willing to enroll in higher education classes and/or a degree program in order to meet conditional certification requirements.
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs and participation in IEP meetings

HS Math Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time High School Math Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching 2 math courses. This position teaches 5 periods per day with 2 planning periods (7 period day total).  The purpose of this position is to expose students to grade-level curriculum.

Professional responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with Arts team members to plan and provide cross-curricular instruction.
  • Differentiating instruction for students with learning disabilities.
  • Collaborating with related service providers to best meet the instructional needs of students.  
Requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teaching certificate/license in the area of Generic Special Education, in another area with eligibility to add a Generic Special Education endorsement, in the process of having an application for certification/licensure reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education, or willing to become certified/licensed in the timeframe mandated by MSDE.
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs and participation in IEP meetings.

HS Technology / Economics Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time High School Technology and Economics Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching the following 2 courses: Introduction to Design /Technology and Economics. Intro to Design/Tech is a beginner course (a survey course) covering a broad range of design/tech principles. Coding or website development type knowledge is not required as this is more of a project and design-based course. The Economics course is a semester-long course that covers the very basics of financial literacy and has many opportunities for hands-on applications. Hands-on activities provide students with a wide range of problem-solving and critical-thinking activities.  

Requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teaching certificate/license in the area of Generic Special Education, in another area with eligibility to add a Generic Special Education endorsement, in the process of having an application for certification/licensure reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education, or willing to become certified/licensed in the timeframe mandated by MSDE.
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs and participation in IEP meetings.

Theatre Arts / Drama Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time 1st - 12th grade Theatre Arts / Drama Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

Professional Competencies:
  • Planning and implementing daily theater arts / drama instruction that meets Maryland State Theatre Arts Standards and National Core Arts Standards.  Classes may range from grades 1-12.
  • Collaborating with arts team members to plan and provide cross curricular instruction.
  • Differentiating instruction for students with learning disabilities.
  • Collaborating with related service providers to best meet the instructional needs of students.  
  • Collaborating with arts team members to create, plan and facilitate annual performances and events.
  • Providing resources and advice to content area teachers in the areas of arts integration and enhancing academic teaching through theater arts / drama.
  • Serving as an Educational Advisor for a small caseload of students. This includes quarterly data tracking, progress updates and attending once or twice annual IEP / PEP meetings.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teacher’s certificate in the area of Special Education or in the process of having an application for certification in the area of Special Education reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education  
  • Strong background in the area of drama and experience teaching drama or theater arts programs
  • Experience with and knowledge of arts integration practices and collaborative teaching
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs and participation in IEP meetings
  • Experience running lights and sound equipment for performances is preferred.

Visual Arts Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time 1st - 12th grade Visual Arts Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:  
  • Planning and implementing daily visual art instruction that meets Maryland State Visual Arts standards and National Core Arts Standards.  Classes may range from grades 1-12.
  • Collaborating with arts team members and content area teachers to plan and provide arts-integrated and cross-curricular instruction.
  • Differentiating instruction for students with learning disabilities.
  • Collaborating with related service providers to best meet the instructional needs of students.  
  • Collaborating with arts team members to create, plan, and facilitate annual performances and events.
  • Providing resources and advice to content area teachers in the areas of arts integration and enhancing academic teaching through visual art.
  • Serving as an Educational Advisor for a small caseload of students. This includes quarterly data tracking, progress updates, and attending once or twice annual IEP / PEP meetings.
Requirements include:
  • Certification in the area of Art Education (K-12).
  • Certification in Special Education or ability to take the Special Ed. Praxis Exam.
  • Experience with and knowledge of arts integration practices and collaborative teaching.
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs.

Music Teacher

Baltimore Lab School seeks applicants for a 1st – 12th grade Music teaching position in order to create a candidate pool.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:  
  • Planning and implementing daily music instruction that meets Maryland State Music standards and National Core Arts Standards. Classes may range from grades 1-12.
  • Collaborating with arts team members and content area teachers to plan and provide arts-integrated and cross-curricular instruction.
  • Differentiating instruction for students with learning disabilities.
  • Collaborating with related service providers to best meet the instructional needs of students.  
  • Collaborating with arts team members to create, plan, and facilitate annual performances and events.
  • Providing resources and advice to content area teachers in the areas of arts integration and enhancing academic teaching through music.
  • Serving as an Educational Advisor for a small caseload of students. This includes quarterly data tracking, progress updates, and attending once or twice annual IEP / PEP meetings.
Requirements include:
  • Certification in the area of Music Education (K-12).
  • Certification in Special Education or ability to take the Special Ed. Praxis Exam.
  • Proficiency in piano and voice.
  • Experience with and knowledge of arts integration practices and collaborative teaching.
  • Experience in Music Technology and/or Musical Theatre (preferred).
  • working knowledge and implementation of IEPs.

LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE - LOWER SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION

Baltimore Lab School is seeking a long-term substitute to cover a Lower School classroom at the start of the 2024-2025 school year (from mid-August to mid-November).  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning and implementing daily lessons in Math and Science that meet Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Differentiating instruction for students with learning disabilities.
  • Collaboration with colleagues including Instructional Assistants, Related Service Providers, arts team staff, Educational Services team, and peer teachers.
  • Serving as an Educational Advisor for a small caseload of students. This includes quarterly data tracking, progress updates, and attending IEP / PEP meetings as needed.
Requirements include:
  • Valid teacher’s certificate in the area of Special Education,  in another area with eligibility to add a General Special Education endorsement, or in the process of having an application for certification in the area of Special Education reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs.
